Open busbars (slip rings) with protection class IP00, as often used in rotary ring pallet wrappers, are considered an absolute no-go in many industries, especially in dusty or abrasive environments.
Instead, STREMA® uses an encapsulated slip ring assembly with IP54/IP55 protection. This provides the rotary arm wrapper with significant advantages in terms of reliability and operational capability under demanding environmental conditions. Furthermore, the wear on the current collectors of the ring wrapper is significantly higher: they cover a distance of over 6 meters with each rotation. In contrast, the slip ring assembly used by STREMA® covers only around 30 centimeters per rotation.
The rotary arm wrapper therefore offers clear advantages in terms of the service life and ease of maintenance of the power transmission components.
With a ring wrapper, the wrapping ring must always be in the uppermost position during pallet changes, otherwise the throughput through the machine will be blocked. This increases the infeed time until the next stretch wrapping cycle begins. A rotary arm wrapper, on the other hand, allows pallet transport at any time, as the throughput path remains clear. This offers an advantage in the infeed time before wrapping begins.
The stretch heads of a ring wrapper inevitably always operate at the same height. This significantly limits the application possibilities of the double-head technology.
In contrast, with the rotary arm wrapper, both stretch heads can be operated independently at different heights. This opens up a variety of additional wrapping options and enables targeted distribution of the pallet stretch film.
Therefore the rotary arm wrapper offers clear advantages when used as a double-head machine – especially when complex requirements regarding stability, film consumption, and wrapping pattern are met.
The sophisticated base frame of the STREMA® rotor systems enables particularly resilient bearings for the rotating arm. This ensures exceptionally smooth machine operation, even under heavy loads.
Our rotary arm machines combine the flexibility of the rotating arm technology at a speed that otherwise only ring wrapper can achieve.
